First, let me say I am a Queenslander but we are talking about an Australian award. An Australian award for the COVID-19 response that included the world's longest lockdown. Where there appears to be no science for some of the decisions taken. What a joke.

The Andrews Labor government imposed six lockdowns during the pandemic, amounting to a total of 262 days.
“Businesses made bankrupt, kids education being interrupted, people's mental health and livelihoods destroyed. A lot of those problems are still with us today. And to give him an Order of Australia for having been the architect of that I find absolutely monstrous.”
“We closed schools, even though there's plenty of evidence that kids rarely if ever suffered from COVID. So we put a massive dent in our kids education. And there are problems in terms of discipline and learning that persists to this day,” Elliott said.
“What about the ridiculous decision, instigated by Brett Sutton, to shut down playgrounds and beaches.
“I mean, we were only allowed out of our front doors for an hour a day, and kids had very little opportunity to socialise with other children, and we go and shut down playgrounds. There was no evidence of any COVID transmission of playgrounds, but we still shut them down.”

Professor Mark Woolhouse, a Government advisor during the pandemic, slammed the broadcaster for reporting on the deaths of healthy adults 'as if they were the norm'
Woolhouse said that the BBC’s coverage, which frequently claimed that “we are all at risk", was “misleading impressions” of the seriousness of Covid.
“A second example is that they routinely reported deaths of healthy young adults, thereby giving the impression that these were common. In reality, such deaths were extremely rare; the great majority of Covid deaths occurred in the elderly, frail and infirm.”
The former government adviser said that he regrets the fact that so many people were arrested whilst socialising outdoors, as the virus “transmits very poorly” outdoors.

6 Mar 2023 -UK officials discussed when to ‘deploy’ new Covid variant to push lockdown, WhatsApp messages show
The UK’s former Health Secretary plotted to “deploy the new variant” to “frighten the pants off everyone” into complying with lockdown, leaked text messages show.
British authorities’ use of so-called “nudge” tactics to scare the public into Covid compliance has previously come under fire, with a group of psychologists last year describing the behaviour of civil servants and government scientists as “grossly unethical”
In one conversation during the third national lockdown in January 2021, Cabinet Secretary Simon Case said the “the fear/guilt factor” would be “vital” in “ramping up the messaging”.
Former NHS surgeon Dr Anthony Hinton wrote, “Look at the date. Remember the Kent variant — that’s why I got locked down in Switzerland having arrived from UK. All just made up theatre. These people should be in prison.”
