With escalating tensions in the Middle East. Iran has launched missile strikes into both Iraq and Syria. If you look at a world map this represents a possible land bridge linking up with the conflict in Lebanon against Israel. It also puts the conflict in Yemen with the USA as one country from also linking into this land bridge through Saudi Arabia. This looks to me like a strategic move of striking across towards Israel with a long-term possibility of causing for the USA. Fighting in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Gaza, Lebanon, Israel, and Syria.

12 Jan 2024 - Saudi Arabia in ‘tight spot’ as US, UK take on Houthi rebels after weeks of attacks

Saudi Arabia has led an anti-Houthi coalition since 2015 — launching thousands of air strikes of its own against the Iran-backed rebels over the years — but is now angling for a ceasefire and military exit from the Arabian Peninsula’s poorest nation.

16 Jan 2024 - Iran launches missile strikes in northern Iraq and Syria, claims to destroy Israeli spy base

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards on Monday launched ballistic missiles at what it said was a spy base for Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad in northern Iraq, and at “anti-Iran terror groups” in Syria, in the latest escalation of hostilities that further risks spiraling into a wider regional conflict.

The strikes were condemned by the United States as “reckless” and imprecise.

The title of this opinion piece is enough to send shivers down the spine.

17 Jan 2024 - How Ten Middle East Conflicts Are Converging Into One Big War

The escalation—and the inherent dangers for the future—reflects a merger of crises in the Middle East. Ten conflicts among diverse rivals or in different arenas over disparate flash points and divergent goals are now converging. For all the recent punditry warning about a widening war, the trajectory has long been obvious. And for all the American warships, troops, and diplomats deployed in the Middle East over the past hundred days, the U.S. has produced little, if anything, beyond greater vulnerabilities.

The Duran guys give their perspective as a calibrated warning of Iran's missile attacks. I view it as more of a chess move with Israel in Iran's sights. The implications are enormous. Iran has entered the conflict. Any test of response feels like it was just bait. America might be about to be stretched. How well it handles that stretching has yet to be decided. If the conflict in Ukraine is an indication. Things might have critical levels of upheaval of perceived dominance/leadership in the world.

Now, Iran did attack Pakistan along with its other strikes recently. I did wonder about it cause if you look on a map it is basically military strikes in the opposite direction to each other. Obviously, greater minds than mine might understand the timing with that but for me, the direction towards Israel was always going to be front and center. Especially with the West.

18 Jan 2024 - Pakistan carries out military strikes on separatist targets in Iran following deadly attack on its own soil by Tehran

The new strikes mean both Pakistan and Iran have now taken the extraordinary step of attacking militants on each other’s soil this week at a time of expanding conflict in the Middle East and wider region.

Both Pakistan and Iran have long fought militants in the restive Baloch region along their 900-kilometer (560-mile) border but the latest incident marks a major escalation between the two neighboring powers and comes as regional hostilities in the Middle East mount over Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza.

Here we are claims and counterclaims, Netanyahu joining more dots to Iran for a conflict. With Iran also joining dots of their own. Direction looks set in the near term for escalation with Israel and Iran. For out of the shadows and direct conflict.

19 Jan 2024 - ‘We are attacking Iran’ – Netanyahu

Israel’s prime minister accuses Tehran of supporting militant groups ‘from the Houthis to Hezbollah to Hamas’

Israel claims Iran was involved in plotting the October 7 attacks, when around 1,200 Israelis were killed and scores taken hostage in the Hamas surprise raid near Gaza.

Netanyahu replied: “Who says we are not attacking Iran, we are attacking.”

“Iran is standing behind it. We are in conflict with Iran. Imagine not what Iran can do to us, to destroy us,” Netanyahu said. Israel will only agree to a deal that sees it gain security control over all of Gaza, Netanyahu added.

What I am calling the land bridge to Israel continues as an expression to be " plow the road". Now we have the US attacking Iran-backed targets in Iraq. In terms of the width of Iraq across it is 730 km (454 mi) ENE – WSW. Escalation does what escalation does? Not really Leaders do what you think leaders shouldn't do if you get my meaning. God help us.

23 Jan 2024 - US conducts strikes on Iraq facilities used by Iran-backed militia group, Defense Secretary Austin says

U.S. forces targeted three facilities used by the Iranian-backed Kataib Hezbollah militia group and other Iran-linked groups, Austin said in a statement.

The Kataib Hezbollah headquarters was targeted, along with storage, and training locations for rocket, missile, and one-way attack unmanned aerial vehicle capabilities, U.S. Central Command said.
