As the world turns, we turn with it. When churches look like cults and cults do not look like cults. The logic of logic is rooted in madness. What am I getting at? Consider this statement about Churches.
Church: The circular logic of saying you’re not a cult when members of your congregation are basically indoctrinated believers to your brand of Christianity. For me, sounds like just that, circular logic. You’re a cult.
Now consider what might be called a cult and this statement.
The following was stated in the Constitution and Rules of the Theosophical Society
ARTICLE I: Constitution
- The Theosophical Society is absolutely unsectarian, and no assent to any formula of belief, faith or creed shall be required as a qualification of membership; but every applicant and member must lie in sympathy with the effort to create the nucleus of an Universal Brotherhood of Humanity.
The one thing, I think cults hate more than anything else is freedom. If you are starting a new cult. The first thing you must learn to do is, learn to control. Control comes in all shapes and sizes. So, is the following about control or more about whether are we happy for you to believe what you want to believe but don't push it onto us?

The following was stated in the Constitution and Rules of the Theosophical Society
ARTICLE XIII Offences
- Any Fellow who shall in any way attempt to involve the Society in political disputes shall be immediately expelled.
- No Fellow, Officer, or Council of the Theosophical Society, or of any Section or Branch thereof, shall promulgate or maintain any doctrin[e ]as being that advanced, or advocated by the Society.
The Three Objects of the Theosophical Society are as follows :
To form a nucleus of the universal brotherhood of humanity without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste, or colour.
To encourage the study of comparative religion, philosophy, and science.
To investigate the unexplained laws of nature and the powers latent in man.
A believer's freedom is strange from what some would consider to be an occult. I wonder what they would think of Christian prophetic Super Bowl scores.
Theosophical Society
The Theosophical Society itself states that it has no official beliefs with which all members must agree. It therefore has doctrine but does not present this as dogma. The Society stated that the only tenet to which all members should subscribe was a commitment "to form a nucleus of the Universal Brotherhood of Humanity without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste or color". This means that there were members of the Theosophical Society who were skeptical about many, or even all, of the Theosophical doctrines, while remaining sympathetic to its basic aim of universal brotherhood.
