Just another armchair expert throwing their opinion around. I have seen some talk of comparing the Ukraine Vs Russia war situation to a possible upcoming Taiwan Vs China war. I feel the two are very different scenarios. The Ukraine-Russian war at the moment almost has an old trench warfare feel to it Including a Christmas truce by the Russians.
Putin's Orthodox Christmas cease-fire begins, but Ukraine and its allies reject it as a cynical ploy
The 36-hour truce declared by Russia -

Back in War World One there was: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_truce
The Christmas truce (German: Weihnachtsfrieden; French: Trêve de Noël; Dutch: Kerstbestand) was a series of widespread unofficial ceasefires along the Western Front of the First World War around Christmas 1914.
It also has a trench warfare feel because of the grind. We have captured a little bit of territory here, a little bit of territory there, back and forth. Back and forth. From what I have seen in some news reports. Looking at the length of the front line. In Ukraine, it is over 1,000 km.
Zelensky: Front line in Ukraine exceeds 1,000km. Russia has thrown all combat-ready troops
Taiwan, the entire length of its island is 394 km (245 mi)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geography_of_Taiwan
With Taiwan, the length of the island is 394 kilometers (almost 400 km). Drag racing is done over the quarter mile or 400 meters where reaction times of getting off the line can determine the win. With Taiwan being 394 Km long. We a taking a quarter mile distance but in kilometers. It's drag racing distance for an invasion over the country or a counter-strike against incoming forces.
What type of war do you think Taiwan Vs China would be? A slow grind or a bang?
