If we lost the dollar... That would make us a third-world country and we can't let it happen.
Trump makes a number of interesting statements in regard to why sovereign countries should not be allowed to trade with their own currency.
- 1:16 mins If we lost the dollar continuing as the world's currency I think that would be the equivalent of losing a war. That would make us a third-world country and we can't let it happen.
- 2:00 mins If you don't honor the dollar as the world's currency..... that's OK I am going to put tariffs all over your products.
- 3:01 mins And these countries like Russia. It's going out now and doing its own thing and ya know they're going out bragging about how they don't need us anymore. etc etc...

29 Nov 2024 - Merkel blows a hole in Washington’s Nord Stream narrative
Berlin was fully aware that Washington wanted to kill off Nord Stream. And that it was just using Russia as a scapegoat to steal a massive new energy market for itself.
“The United States argued that its security interests were affected by the building of the pipeline because its ally Germany would make itself too dependent on Russia. In truth, I felt that the United States was mobilizing its formidable economic and financial resources to prevent the business ventures of other countries, even their allies,” Merkel writes.

21 Dec 2019 - Nord Stream 2: Trump approves sanctions on Russia gas pipeline
President Donald Trump has signed a law that will impose sanctions on any firm that helps Russia's state-owned gas company, Gazprom, finish a pipeline into the European Union.
The sanctions target firms building Nord Stream 2, an undersea pipeline that will allow Russia to increase gas exports to Germany. The US considers the project a security risk to Europe. Both Russia and the EU have strongly condemned the US sanctions. Congress voted through the measures as part of a defence bill last week and the legislation, which described the pipeline as a "tool of coercion", was signed off by Mr Trump on Friday.
