Confirmation Bias Me, Myself And I

Posted on December 20, 2023

How might I describe confirmation bias? In terms of the bible possibly Isaiah 30 might provide some clues.

Isaiah 30:1-5 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: 2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! 3 Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion. 4 For his princes were at Zoan, and his ambassadors came to Hanes. 5 They were all ashamed of a people that could not profit them, nor be an help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.

Confirmation bias is in some ways a bias – that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit(God’s spirit), that they may add sin to sin. It can become an alliance of me, myself and I. An unholy trinity of self. In the extreme, proclaiming the name of the Lord as a seal of approval. For what has occurred, about to occur, or for actions to be taken. The manipulation and twistedness can be often accompanied by emotional gaslighting in the use of scripture. In terms of walking down this path of the dark side. It is a road to hell while proclaiming the name of Jesus Christ and declaring your own self-righteousness for your actions.

We perhaps identify in others this type of scenario with labels such as a wolf in sheep’s clothing, a false prophet, or a false teacher. However, with any individual, things can be more subtle. Attitudes and intentions for actions. From what I can work out, seems to be the issue. This might make more sense after reading the section on confirmation bias offense but for now some generalized thoughts.

A mother instills confidence in a child. That they are a special individual as they grow up in church. A Pastor preaches several messages that everybody has a destiny in God. In many ways, an input tends to cause a corresponding output. Simply put death and life is in the power of the tongue. The words of the mother and the Pastor have shaped the child’s life.

Proverbs 18:21 Amplified Bible (AMP) Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.

I generalize witchcraft as one thing and that would be manipulation. The manipulation of others through the use of words is a spell power and it can happen in several ways. Analyze the above verse again. Is it a curse or a blessing to eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words?

Let’s go to Luke 4:18

Luke 4:18 KJV “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

With Luke 4:18 you can be back at. A mother instills confidence in a child that they are a special individual as they grow up in church. A Pastor preaches several messages that everybody has a destiny in God. It can be a big call to start declaring things about yourself from what amounts to a circle of influence around yourself. It appears a visit to Jerusalem is too much for some.

Jerusalem syndrome Wiki is a group of mental phenomena involving the presence of religiously themed obsessive ideas, delusions, or other psychosis-like experiences that are triggered by a visit to the city of Jerusalem. It is not endemic to one single religion or denomination but has affected Jews, Christians, and Muslims of many different backgrounds. It is not listed as a recognised condition in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders or the International Classification of Diseases.

The best known, although not the most prevalent, manifestation of Jerusalem syndrome is the phenomenon whereby a person who seems previously balanced and devoid of any signs of psychopathology becomes psychotic after arriving in Jerusalem.

I have wondered, is an Antichrist spirit such a bad thing with so many people claiming to be the Christ? It’s a good thing the church is on the lookout for the Antichrist. Who knows what would happen? If the church was not here to warn us about the coming Antichrist. Fortunately, you can always use Google, to Google. The top ten people claiming to be the Messiah. To see who the current favorite might be for the Antichrist. So you might know what to do with your weekend. I am not doing it justice. It is funnier than that.

List Of Messiah Claimants Wiki This is a list of notable people who have been said to be a messiah, either by themselves or by their followers. The list is divided into categories, which are sorted according to date of birth (where known).

So the question ends up how do we try and navigate our confirmation bias? Your confirmation bias tends to show up in how you judge others and how you judge yourself in front of others. Which brings me back to Micah 6:8

Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
