AustinKeymasterWith such a heading as The Russians Are Coming. Was your first thought on the 1966 American comedy film of the same name? (Official title – The Russians Are Coming the Russians Are Coming)
The Russians Are Coming (1966) ORIGINAL TRAILER
So it was with this story below on 27 Jul 2026. About a Russian man being arrested for allegedly trying to pass information to New Zealand intelligence officers, who are members of the infamous Five Eyes. Upon which my thoughts drifted towards a more geopolitical storyline with Russia and Australia over the recent years. For example, Russian-born Australian citizens Kira and Igor Korolev, alleged Russian spies, recently had their charges upgraded to conspiracy to commit espionage around a month earlier.

27 Jul 2026 – Russian man accused of treason after dealing with Five Eyes spy group
The suspect allegedly passed military secrets to Western agents via New Zealand
He was arrested after reportedly providing “information that can be used to harm Russian security,” the agency said in a statement on Monday. New Zealand is a member of the Five Eyes, a Western intelligence-sharing alliance, where it works closely with the US, UK, Australia and Canada.
According to Russian counter-espionage authorities, the New Zealanders were interested in classified information regarding military cooperation with nations in the Asia-Pacific region.

It’s claimed the New Zealanders were interested in classified information regarding military cooperation with nations in the Asia-Pacific region. Depending on how your thoughts travel, including with trade. There is a good chance the Asia-Pacific region does not mean what you think it means.
Asia-Pacific Wikipedia
The region’s precise boundaries vary depending on context, but countries and territories in the Far East (East Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia and Oceania) are also sometimes included.

While I am not considering TransTelekom and a Korea–Russia Friendship Bridge for good reason. At the other end of the scale, so to speak, we get this.
10 Jul 2026 – The bridge that linked Iran to Russia and China: Why the US chose to bomb it
The US targeted a strategic bridge on Iran’s northern trade route, severing a vital rail link to Russia and China. The strike highlights the widening scope of the conflict and its geopolitical implications.
The bridge, identified as the Aq Tekeh Khan railway bridge, also referred to as the Ogtay Khan bridge, is located in Golestan province near Iran’s border with Turkmenistan.
