Is the Garden of Eden a catch 22 situation? Denied the knowledge of good and evil yet it was the knowledge that would of been needed for the decision. A bit like a child doesn’t know what hot means until they get slightly burnt by something and then they understand.
Similarly the Kobayashi Maru test out of Star Trek is a test of a no win scenario. It is worth the study, what ever you decide the odds are increasingly stacked against you that loss of life is certain to happen. There is no right or wrong answer but you will fail the mission. It is design as a character test for senior officers that they can live with the consequences of their decision in the way they failed the mission with loss of life.
