Although there are many resources on the topic of Cults. Here are some of my own layman’s thoughts/opinions about Cults. They will make much more sense if you read Chapter 7 Yes It’s Real Confirmation Bias Told Me So. While some can be a protection, any of them can be a prison.
- Having a confirmation bias means you are trapped in your own cult. Being in a relationship with someone who has a confirmation bias means you are in two cults. Going to a church that has a confirmation bias means you are now in three cults. Being in multiple cults simultaneously tends to have multiple rules but the 1st rule of being in multiple cults and complaining is. Everybody else will think they are sane and people will think you are the crazy one.
- Church: The circular logic of saying you’re not a cult when members of your congregation are indoctrinated believers to your brand of Christianity. Sounds like just that, circular logic. You’re a cult.
- While calling it a cult when you indoctrinate believers to your version of God or your brand of Christianity, we might need to tread carefully 1 Corinthians 13:9 We know in part… therefore it might represent part of the puzzle. This would mean we are judging from part to part, which is in part based on dodgy logic.
- Cult leaders love symbolism and will play both sides against the middle. Like the prophetic messages in Hollywood movies or the Super Bowl score. God has spoken.
- Christians while looking for God to speak to them through the Super Bowl might get a satanic halftime show. The irony is ironic in terms of what God might be saying.
- The circular logic of entitlement symbolism? Don’t think too hard, the rabbit hole goes deep. Exodus 20:4 You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
- Cult leaders tend to tell you what to think rather than teach you how to think for yourself because the bible is clear.
- Dictatorship is best served with a democracy of two choices.
